Global sales of Alexa-enabled devices exceed half a billion—Amazon’s new Echo Pop, Echo Show 5, Echo Show 5 Kids, and Echo Buds expand user options for Alexa access. 

Amazon has recently announced enhancements to its Echo range, launching four fresh devices that provide more convenient access to Alexa both at home and while on mobile, all at an outstanding price range. These additions include the brand-new Echo Pop, available in two captivating new hues, Lavender Bloom and Midnight Teal; the upgraded Echo Show 5 equipped with a revamped speaker system delivering double the bass of its predecessor; the space-themed Echo Show 5 Kids; and the newest Echo Buds offering high-quality audio and mobile Alexa access. 

These recent additions to the Echo series compactly offer even greater value, giving users more choices in the way they engage with Alexa. Over half a billion Alexa-enabled devices have already been sold worldwide, with user engagement of Alexa escalating by over 35% in 2022. 

 

The innovative Echo Pop ($39.99)

Echo Pop, a completely novel design featuring a forward-facing speaker, provides comprehensive sound and Alexa access for just $39.99. Its compact layout is ideal for small spaces like dorms or apartments, or to introduce Alexa to more rooms in your house. Alexa can play music or your chosen podcast, control compatible smart home gadgets, answer queries, or crack jokes. Echo Pop, besides the classic Charcoal and Glacier White, is also available in two fresh colours—Lavender Bloom and Midnight Teal. 

The design and delivery of a high-performing smart speaker at this cost was a substantial challenge” stated Rajesh Parthasarathy, the Principal Product Manager of the Echo Pop team. “We created a distinct form factor and introduced two new colour options—we believe customers will adore it. 

Echo Pop, despite its petite size, also supports eero Built-in, enabling it to extend your existing eero Wi-Fi network’s coverage by up to 1,000 square feet.

The Echo Show 5 in Glacier White can be adjusted with a stand accessory. 

Echo Show 5 is the fan favourite among Echo Show devices. This updated Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 5 Kids present a slick new appearance. The speaker system has been wholly restructured to offer double the bass of the previous version and enhanced sound clarity for entertainment such as music, Audible audiobooks, videos, or podcasts. The Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 5 Kids also feature the AZ2 Neural Edge processor and a redesigned microphone array. 

Customer opinion research taught us that sound quality is a top priority for these devices” stated Christina Cao, a Senior Product Manager at Amazon. “We used that feedback to create our fastest and best-sounding Echo Show 5 yet.” 

The newly designed Echo Show 5 Kids comes with the same hardware enhancements and features a vibrant, space-themed design, kid-friendly Alexa responses, homework assistance, and explicit lyric filters. Kids can host dance parties, listen to audiobooks, play games, or make video calls to approved contacts. They can also co-create a visual story using the Create with Alexa feature, featuring two new themes: Dinosaurs and Jazzy Jungle.

The Echo Show 5 Kids also offers a two-year worry-free guarantee, a suite of parental controls, and includes one year of Amazon Kids+, an ad-free and kid-friendly subscription offering a vast range of audiobooks, videos, Alexa skills, and more. 

Customers can also purchase an adjustable Echo Show 5 stand accessory with a USB-C charging port.

The new Echo Buds provide high-quality audio, durable battery life, and premium features at an incredibly affordable price” shared Anuj Dron, a Senior Product Manager on Amazon’s Echo team. “They provide customers easy access to audio content and Alexa, wherever they are.” 

Echo Buds offer superior audio and a lightweight, semi-in-ear design, allowing you to stay connected to your surroundings while listening to music or making calls. They’re sweat-resistant, and the battery offers up to five hours of music playback per charge, up to 20 total hours with a fully charged case, and up to two hours after a 15-minute charge. 

The Echo Buds’ multipoint pairing feature allows you to connect them to two devices simultaneously. They automatically recognize which device is playing audio and switch accordingly, enabling you to seamlessly transition from a video call on your laptop to listening to music on your phone. You can also customize the tap controls on Echo Buds in the Alexa app to manage music, answer calls, mute your mics, and more. 

Amazon also revealed that Echo Auto, which brings Alexa’s convenience to your vehicle, is now available in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Japan. This Echo Auto version features a slim design with an adhesive mount for optimal placement in the car. With five built-in microphones, you can safely keep your focus on the road while using Alexa to listen to music, make calls, and add items to your calendar or to-do list.
